Lyne Park Cafe, Rose Bay

What better way to spend your Sunday morning than a kayak on Sydney harbour followed by lunch and gossip at Lyne Park Cafe? Well I can tell you it doesn’t get much better!

As you may have guessed that is how I spent yesterday, a leisurely paddle followed by a delicious roast vegetable and haloumi salad and chai latte.

The Technology Park Hotel, Alexandria

I pass by The Technology Park Hotel in Alexandria every day on my way to and from work and ever since it (more recently) had a makeover I have wanted to have a meal there. What made me want to go more was that someone Tweeted that they have a number of gluten free options and the food is great.
Last Friday night I convinced my Mum, even though the pub is on a busy road (Wyndham Street), that we should go and check it out. We grabbed two window seats and started with a glass of wine each.

Saigon Saigon, Glebe

One of my favourite things to do on a Friday and Saturday night is to meet a friend for dinner and a couple of drinks and catch up on all the goss and happenings. One of my favourite places to do this is in Glebe. Glebe, apart from being reasonably close by, is always buzzing and has a number of great restaurants with an array of cuisines, from Mexican to Turkish to Vietnamese.

Quinoa, chickpea and roast beetroot salad

These days it seems to be becoming trendy to go on a gluten free diet to lose weight. Now I could go on and on about how this is not a good idea however I will just say that a lot of gluten free substitutions are actually higher in fat, sugar and higher GI than their glutenous equivalents. This means that a lot of people actually put on weight when going on a gluten free diet (especially since if you are like me, every time you see something gluten free you just have to try it!).

Springhill Farm lemon, lime and white chocolate biscuit – gluten free

I was lucky enough to win two of Springhill Farm‘s lemon, lime and white chocolate biscuits in a Twitter competition and decided instead of being greedy I would share the biscuits around the office. I also like to do this as to get opinions of gluten free products from non ‘glutards’ (thanks to holly pop for my new favourite word!) as not having eaten gluten for about 18 months I have forgotten what ‘normal’ food is like.
Finally at morning tea time I decided it was time to get out the biscuits.

Sydney Fine Food Company Cafe, Alexandria

Don’t you love it when you find a cafe close by, that has delicious (gluten free) treats and offers that something extra? Well that’s exactly what I have found with Sydney Fine Food Company Cafe in Alexandria. Sydney Fine Food Company Cafe is a local haunt for me on the weekend because (a) they are open longer hours than most of the cafe’s in the area and (b) they have a number of yummy gluten free options, both sweet and savory.
