Cheeky Food Group cooking class
May 31st
I was lucky enough to be invited to a cooking class for food writers and bloggers last week held by Cheeky Food Group. When I was first invited I wasn’t sure if it I would be able to attend due to my dietary requirements however I was assured that it would be no problem. The director of Cheeky Food Group, Leona, even emailed me on the day to say that the company chefs prefer using gluten free flour as they find it doesn’t clump as easily!
I arrived at Cheeky headquarters in Surry Hills and was offered a choice of wine More >
Lamb meatballs with gluten free soba noodles
May 30th
You would think that buckwheat noodles (soba noodles) would be gluten free (despite its name buckwheat is in fact gluten free) and that companies wouldn’t feel the need to add in wheat flour right? Wrong – I had been searching for gluten free soba noodles for ages with no luck, until I found out that Spiral Foods manufacture gluten free soba noodles. It still took me a long time to find them (as I didn’t want to order just one product from an online store) but I finally did at Dr Earth Health Foods in Newtown (if you live in the More >
Lenny’s Cafe, Holbrook NSW
May 26th
On our way to Bright (in Victoria) earlier in the year we became desperate for lunch at Holbrook. Though, I noticed a sign listing some salads on offer, including a chicken Caesar salad. I generally find that Caesar salad’s can be make gluten free More >
Chicken, lentil and vegetable soup
May 23rd
It is definitely starting to feel like winter and I have therefore changed from my brown rice sushi, to soup for lunches.
A couple of weeks ago I wasn’t very prepared and therefore bought La Zuppa‘s lentil soup for lunches. The soups are all natural and gluten free so a great lunch choice (however the salt content is quite high). Though, the last couple of weeks I have been making enough soup for the week each Sunday.
I found this recipe for chicken, vegetable & barley soup on Me vs the Bulge’s blog and loved the sound of it so decided to make More >
Cafe Bondi – gluten free friendly
May 20th
My friend and I are desperately trying to use up all our vouchers from the Entertainment Book before they expire and so we flicked through to find our Thursday night dinner destination. We were both shocked to find that I still hadn’t used my Cafe Bondi voucher as this is usually the first one to go, and so our dinner destination was decided.
Having a look at Cafe Bondi’s menu online I noticed that they listed their sausages as gluten free so I at least figured they would know what I was talking about when asking what was gluten free.
We turned up More >
