Cauliflower crust pizza
Apr 17th
Yes you read right – I made a pizza with an unconventional main crust ingredient – cauliflower. I wanted to try this recipe as gluten free pizza crusts are so expensive to buy and they are often loaded with sugar. I also love a challenge and to try new and different things.
I never thought I would have this problem but I actually don’t have a microwave – the recipe I used for this crust has an alternative though, to steam the cauliflower. However I don’t have a steamer either (or anything that I can use as a steamer as my colander More >
Magpie & Stump, Banff
Apr 16th
Another (reasonably) gluten free friendly option in Banff is Magpie & Stump. I had wanted to try out their menu ever since going there for a few drinks one night. The interior is very well done and it has a great atmosphere. If you go just for drinks you get to de-shell peanuts on the ground (who doesn’t love making a mess when it’s not in their own house!).
However I must say I was a little dissapointed when I visited for dinner as I had seen online that they had a gluten free menu but it turns out they no longer have More >
The Dip, GOODGOD Bar & Small Club, Sydney
Apr 15th
I attended a food blogger dinner at The Dip, an American style restaurant located in GOODGOD Bar. It took me quite awhile to work out where it was since I was looking for The Dip and not GOODGOD but after asking the bouncer I eventually decended the stairs into the eatery.
As there were so many of us we ordered some starters and sides to share including the grilled corn on the cob with lime mayo and chiptole salt and thick cut steak fries with chipotle mayo. Both of these I could eat and were very yummy (chipotle mayo is very popular in Canada More >
Duck pancakes thanks to Game Farm
Apr 13th
I was lucky enough to receive a package from Game Farm, the largest multi-species game bird producer in the Southern Hemisphere, specialising in the breeding and processing of game birds, specialty poultry and supply of game meats. One of the products I received to try was a duck. I have to say this was rather intimidating at first since I have never roasted a chicken let alone a duck (I have always left big roasts to the pro, my mum).
I wanted to make duck pancakes as I used to love getting these from Chinese restaurants but since going gluten free More >
MUMU Grill, Crows Nest
Mar 19th
I loved living in Cammeray because it was a short stroll to Crows Nest which contains a number of cute boutique clothes shops as well as wonderful cafes and restaurants. One of the restaurants I managed to get to whilst living in Cammeray was MUMU Grill. I received an email voucher from them for my birthday offering 50% off my bill so I rushed off to MUMU to have a final horrah with a friend before coming over to Canada.
We arrived a little early so took advantage of their bar area to have a glass of wine. Whilst sitting there we got More >
