Nourish, Banff
Nov 8th
Just when you thought there could not be anymore restaurants in Banff with gluten free options. I have one more for now… and it’s a good one.
It took me 10 months of living in Banff and finally in my last month of living there I got around to visiting Nourish. I had been told that I would love it and that no matter what I had to try the nachos. Now as mentioned in my last post I am not a big fan of Canadian nachos due to the lack of toppings, however the ones at Nourish have 27 ingredients More >
The Elk & Oarsman, Banff
Sep 3rd
As I have mentioned before there are a number of places with gluten free options in Banff, and The Elk and Oarsman Pub & Grill is no exception to this. I was very excited to find that The Elk & Oarsman actually have a separate two page (!!) gluten free menu.
I usually go to the Elk and Oarsman on a Tuesday night for steak night. The first time I went I got my steak on gluten free bread however they charged me $3 extra for this so from then on I have just asked for no bread. It’s a bit hit More >
Magpie & Stump, Banff
Apr 16th
Another (reasonably) gluten free friendly option in Banff is Magpie & Stump. I had wanted to try out their menu ever since going there for a few drinks one night. The interior is very well done and it has a great atmosphere. If you go just for drinks you get to de-shell peanuts on the ground (who doesn’t love making a mess when it’s not in their own house!).
However I must say I was a little dissapointed when I visited for dinner as I had seen online that they had a gluten free menu but it turns out they no longer have More >
Phil’s Restaurant, Banff, Canada
Mar 7th
Phil’s is an American style diner open for breakfast and lunch in Banff. I had been told by a few people that it wasn’t that great but a couple of friends and I decided to test it out for brunch any way.
My first impression was that it probably hasn’t changed much since it opened in the early 1960′s, however it was cosy so I didn’t mind!
I wasn’t holding high hopes that they would have gluten free options as I found it very hard to find gluten free options in the US. I was therefore plesantly suprised to find they had More >
Eddie Burger + Bar, Banff, Canada
Dec 20th
Almost every night of the week in Banff there is a food special on at one of the pubs/restaurants. Now you would assume that $6 cheese burger night at The Eddie wouldn’t be coeliac friendly. However I was assured that The Eddie had gluten free burger buns and sure enough having a quick look at their website not only do they have gluten free buns but the beef patty was also gluten free.
So I headed on down to The Eddie and ordered a gluten free cheese burger. The burgers came out and whilst mine looked smaller than my friends glutenous More >
